Surveys On The Go® is a mobile app that rewards users with cash for completing short surveys, participating in research studies, and reviewing products. Most surveys pay between $1–$5, and users can cash out once they reach the $10 minimum payout.

The Surveys On The Go® App Store presence was due for a design refresh. Its original 2020 screenshots no longer reflected the app’s evolution by 2022. I set out to modernize the visuals with a more authentic, human-centered approach, incorporating natural lifestyle photography that showed real users receiving surveys in the moment while they were out in the world.

I audited the existing 2020 App Store screenshots and identified an opportunity to better reflect the app’s evolution and core value, capturing real-time feedback from users while they’re out in the world. I introduced a more human-centered visual approach using natural lifestyle photography paired with clean UI overlays, and simplified the messaging to highlight key benefits like earning rewards and sharing in-the-moment opinions.

This shift not only created a more relatable and inviting look, but also highlighted the app’s core value: capturing accurate, in-the-moment feedback without recall issues, giving companies more reliable and actionable insights.

Based on insights gathered during the research phase, I developed a range of new design directions to refresh and modernize the brand. These concepts explored updated typography, color applications, and visual styles while staying aligned with the brand’s core identity. The goal was to create options that felt more contemporary, cohesive, and better suited for the brand’s digital presence, allowing stakeholders to evaluate different approaches for evolving the overall look and feel.

Option 1 was selected and performed strongly, but after a few years, the app had evolved enough to merit another refresh. For this update, the emphasis shifted to highlighting new features, such as expanded cash-out options through Venmo and Amazon, along with the introduction of Bonus Gigs that give participants even more opportunities to earn. The refreshed design incorporated movement and vibrant pops of color to draw attention as users browsed the screenshots. I also showcased the wider range of payout methods and highlighted the app’s updated UI, particularly the redesigned survey wall to deliver a modern, dynamic, and engaging presentation.

The final design was then resized for all required device formats to ensure accuracy across the App Store. Since users browse the store on different iPhone and iPad models, each with unique dimensions and aspect ratios, screenshots must be tailored to fit each device precisely. Designing for multiple screen sizes ensures that every viewer sees clean, correctly framed visuals without cropping or distortion. It also maintains the integrity of the message and UI showcased in each screenshot, creating a more professional, trustworthy, and seamless browsing experience.
